Our Projects:
Latest:
Assist A Learner Trust - June 2010
Club Cares donated computers, monitors and supplies to three underprivileged school the some of the poorest communities in Cape Town.
In some cases, it was the first time that the learners had access to a computer in their lives, and we are proud to have been able to give
them this gift to assist in developing their computer skills.

Zanokhanyo Children’s Home - April 2010
Club Cares got involved with a project aimed at benefitting the Zanokhanyo Children’s Home in Khayalitsha, by sponsoring the bed linen for the refurbished home of 25 HIV/AIDS orphans. Judging by the happy faces, we can be sure that these kids will be going to bed a little less reluctantly from now on!

FoodTent – 30 November 2009
Our friends at Heart, a non-profit organisation, contacted us about a community in need and informed us about the fantastic concept of erecting a ‘foodtent’ where vegetables from spinach and peppers to lettuce and tomatoes can be grown to feed up to 80 children per month. It was at this time that we decided to invite a few of our valued colleagues and suppliers to join us in getting our hands dirty… literally!
We met at our office in Durbanville, kitted our volunteers out in ‘Club Cares’ t-shirts and peak caps and made sure they had their ‘survival kits’ which consisted of goodies to get them through the day. We had a quick cup of coffee and then drove through to Attie van Wyk Primary School where our team was dressed in orange overalls and got to work by erecting the tent, preparing the soil and planting peppers and spinach with the help of some of the learners of the school whose responsibility it will be to tend to the plants.
We also wrote and hung up ‘blessing flags’ which consisted of inspirational messages for the learners and surprised each of the 156 learners with a ‘party pack’.
Although the aim of the day was to contribute towards ongoing nutritional meals for the children, our team benefitted in an even larger way by having been part of giving back to the community in which they live and work. Club Travel has also sponsored a 12 month maintenance programme which includes the training of the learners at Attie van Wyk Primary School to look after their food tent to ensure ongoing successful harvests.

S.K.I.N – School Kids in Need

A food hamper to the value of R500 was donated to the Gouda Learning Centre in Gouda, to be raffled out in a lucky draw benefitting the centre.

Frankie Sacks
Club Cares donated a laptop to ex-employee, Frankie Sacks, in order to stay in touch and connected during her brave battle with cancer. Sadly, Frankie passed away on the 28th of September 2009.

Little Lambs - I
Little Lambs run a ‘safe house’ in Du Noon where a lady, affectionately known as ‘Granny’, looks after abandoned infant AIDS orphans. Club Cares helped out by donating a food hamper, which included baby formula, porridge and Purity baby food to the residence.
August 2009

Little Lambs – II
Club Cares further supported the great work done by Little Lambs, by providing ‘baby packs’ which they in turn distribute to needy members in the community. The packs are aimed at helping mums care for their little ones, and included baby powder, wet wipes, petroleum jelly, bibs and fleece blankets.
July 2009

St. Michael’s Home
This children’s home, focused on housing abused girls, received a welcome donation of ‘High School Musical’ crockery, fleece blankets and treats such as sweets and drinks for the girls. To protect the identities of the girls living there, we cannot publish any pictures of their smiling faces upon receiving this donation from Club Cares.
July 2009

Woodstock Police Station – Trauma Centre
Club Cares donated ‘care packs’ to the Woodstock Police Station’s Trauma Centre. The packs consisted of blankets and treats such as chips and sweeties. The Trauma Centre is a wendy house on the station’s grounds, manned at all hours by volunteers who assist victims of trauma work through their ordeals. Sadly, children are often those worst affected by these traumatic experiences.
Club Travel Extreme Makeover - St Pauls Primary School Edition
|
We are very excited to have completed the first Club Travel Cares project for 2009,
which proved to be a very successful one!
Each Club Travel staff member contributes between R10 and R50 per month, and for this they get to wear casual clothes to work on the last Friday of each month. Club Travel then matches the contribution made by the staff, and with this we grant wishes to those less fortunate than ourselves.
St Paul’s Primary School in Cape Town was in dire need of having their ablutions renovated.
Club Travel Cares jumped in by taking care of the renovation, including a new ceiling, new toilets, windows & a paint job fitting for a primary school!
The Club Travel Team arrived in full force to take care of the renovations!
Here are some of the ‘before’ and ‘after’ pics. |
